Every fragrance we sell is genuine. Not a replica, not a clone, not a decant into an unmarked bottle. If you ever believe otherwise, bring it back or contact us and we will refund you in full.
Counterfeit perfume is a real problem, and anyone shopping outside a department store is right to ask questions. Rather than simply asking you to take our word for it, this page sets out exactly where our stock comes from, why we can stand behind it, and what you can verify for yourself.
Twenty five years, four storefronts
No Excuses Fragrances opened in 2001 and has operated inside West Edmonton Mall ever since. We now run four locations across Alberta, including House of Oud, our dedicated Arabian and niche fragrance store.
That matters more than any badge we could put on this page. A business selling counterfeit goods does not hold mall leases for twenty five years. It does not put its name above four storefronts, employ staff customers see week after week, or invite people to walk in, test anything on the shelf, and buy it face to face. Our reputation is attached to physical locations that thousands of Albertans walk past every day.
What we guarantee
- Every fragrance is authentic and supplied in the manufacturer's own packaging
- Products are brand new and unused, with original batch codes intact and unaltered
- We never refill, top up, dilute, or repackage a retail bottle, in store or online. A sealed bottle leaves us exactly as it left the manufacturer
- The only product we ever fill ourselves is a decant, and a decant is always sold as a decant, never presented as a full retail bottle
- Stock is stored away from heat and direct sunlight, both in store and in our warehouse
About our decants
Some customers want to live with a scent for a week before committing to a full bottle, so we offer decants at our counters. They are available in store only and are never sold or shipped through this website.
A decant is filled in front of you, sprayed directly from the original retail bottle into a clean atomiser while you watch. Nothing is mixed, diluted, or prepared out of sight, and you see exactly which bottle it came from. It is sold and labelled as a decant, at a decant price, and never sold as anything else.
That process is the whole point. If you want certainty about what you are buying, ask to watch it being filled. We would rather you did.
Where our fragrances come from
We purchase exclusively through licensed fragrance wholesalers and authorized third party distributors operating within the North American supply chain. Suppliers are checked before we buy from them, we keep documentation for the shipments we receive, and we do not buy from private sellers, online marketplaces, or unverified sources.
Buying at this volume for twenty five years has one useful side effect. Our buyers have handled these products long enough to recognise when something is not right, and stock that does not meet our standard does not reach the shelf.
Packaging changes and reformulations
Fragrance houses revise their products constantly. Bottles get redesigned, caps and labels change, boxes are updated, and batch codes are printed differently from one production run to the next. A bottle bought today can look noticeably different from the same fragrance bought three years ago, and both are completely genuine.
The juice itself changes too. Brands reformulate over time, sometimes to update a scent and sometimes because ingredient standards change and a material has to be reduced or replaced. This is why a long time favourite can smell slightly lighter, sharper, or shorter lasting than you remember. It is a decision made by the fragrance house, not something that happened to the bottle on its way to you.
Because we carry deep stock and hard to find lines, you may occasionally receive an older production run in older packaging. That is genuine product, properly stored, and often exactly what collectors are looking for. If a bottle arrives looking different from the photo on our website and you would like it checked, bring it in or contact us and we will look at it with you.
Check it yourself
You do not have to rely on our word. Authentic fragrance carries a batch code, usually printed or stamped on the base of the bottle and repeated on the outer box, and the two should match. Free batch code checkers online will return the manufacturing date for most designer houses.
Beyond that, look at the things counterfeiters rarely get right: the weight and finish of the glass, the precision of the printing, the fit of the cap, and the quality of the cellophane and seams on the box. If you are ever unsure, bring the bottle into any of our stores and we will go through it with you.
We are an independent retailer
No Excuses Fragrances is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or an authorized dealer of any fragrance house. Brand names, logos and trademarks shown on this website belong to their respective owners and are used only to identify the products we sell.
This is normal across independent fragrance retail. Authorized dealer status is generally limited to department stores and brand owned boutiques. Our authenticity does not rest on a title granted by a fragrance house. It rests on a vetted supply chain and a quarter century of standing behind what we sell.
If you ever have a concern
Contact us or visit any location and we will look at the product with you. If a fragrance you bought from
us is not authentic, we will refund it in full, regardless of how long the item has been open or used.
